We’ve just launched our third campaign on Kiva Zip: Once Upon a Praline! Lynn lives in Missouri City, TX and sold her first box of pralines back in 2012. Since then, she and her team have sold thousands of boxes to people throughout Houston, elsewhere in the US, and even to Australia. Lynn’s company makes a yearly donation to The Westview School for Austism which they call “Pralines with a Purpose,”
“Although we love making great tasting pralines, we are most proud of the annual donation to The Westview School for Autism we make to assist families that want this valuable education for their child, but simply can’t afford it. We call this “Pralines with a Purpose”. Once we open the doors to our retail location, we will create jobs by providing training and employment opportunities for teenagers and young adults living on the autism spectrum. When my customers purchase Once Upon a Praline®, they not only receive a delicious product and optimal customer service, but they are helping me to fulfill my dream of supporting our local autism community-my way of paying it forward.”
Once Upon a Praline has outgrown Lynn’s home kitchen – that’s where the Bayou Microfund and Kiva Zip community comes in! Funding through Kiva Zip will help with payroll for her part-time employee, purchase nutrition fact labels, commercial kitchen rental expenses, development of a lactose-free praline, marketing costs, purchase of flavor labels, packaging supplies and ingredients in bulk. With all of this, Lynn will be closer to her goal of eventually having her own storefront.
